CBC News - Money - MySpace relaunches as entertainment hub
MySpace is overhauling its image into an entertainment site for its mostly younger audience as it fights to stay relevant in the age of Facebook and Twitter.
The social-networking pioneer, which was among the top internet sites just a few years ago, now has its sights set decidedly lower.
Starting Wednesday and over the next month, MySpace will be relaunching its site to focus on giving users more ways to consume music, videos and celebrity gossip.
Entertainment has long been central to the MySpace experience, but over the years the site has been pulled in different directions.
It dabbled in classifieds, job ads and even user reviews in a partnership with Citysearch as it pushed to become a social portal for the web.
MySpace CEO Mike Jones says the relaunch "pulls us out of the social networking category" to become a social entertainment destination.

244,000 Germans say ‘no’ to Google Street View - The Globe and Mail
Internet giant Google says more than 244,000 Germans have asked that their homes be made unrecognizable in its Street View program, scheduled to launch in Germany next month.
Google estimated in a statement released Thursday that the requests amount to about 3 per cent of the total number of households in Germany's 20 largest cities, images of which are to go online as part of the company's mapping program.

Brain Waves Surge Moments Before Death : Discovery News
A study of seven terminally ill patients found identical surges in brain activity moments before death, providing what may be physiological evidence of "out of body" experiences reported by people who survive near-death ordeals.
Doctors at George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates recorded brain activity of people dying from critical illnesses, such as cancer or heart attacks.
Moments before death, the patients experienced a burst in brain wave activity, with the spikes occurring at the same time before death and at comparable intensity and duration.
